The last thing you need to know is, no matter what technique or system you choose to employ for yourself, (hopefully it's mine), but you will at times still not be successful like you know you can be. This is simply because of a lack of mental focus. This is one thing that sets the pros apart from the masses. They have learned how to focus longer and harder than the rest of us. Even they occasionally have mental lapses which are apparent at times and they have the best systems and methods in the world.
So don't get down on yourself, or more importantly the technique or system you are using when things to go as planned. It's not the systems fault, just like it's not faulty equipment or the bat. It never is. There is inevitably going to be at bats or maybe even games where for whatever reason your focus and eye contact are lacking. But your times of non-focus will be shorter if you have a system to follow rather than shooting in the dark.
There are basically 4 things you need to do to get better guaranteed:
1. View the video and commit the timing technique to memory.
2. Practice what you have viewed (there is no substitute for practice) never is, never will be.
3. Employ the technique on each and every pitch whether ball or strike. 4.Constantly remind yourself to keep focus and eye contact on the ball, because this is where everyone (even the pros) lose it every now and again.
Optional: Watch and listen your teammates and opponents marvel at your new found talent that was simply lying in wait. Then tell them (if you feel like it), as to how you changed your game!
I leave you with this final example:
The example is me. Yes, I'm the guy who came up with the perfect Timing technique for slow pitch softball and it is awesome when it is employed. What do you mean when it is employed?
Well guess what? Even I, the guy that knows how to be the best you can be and help others achieve their hitting best, doesn't always follow his own system. What? But how can this be? Simple. Mental Lapses. Laziness. This is the only thing I can attribute it to. I don't always do what I am supposed to do, even when I know exactly what the right thing is !! And guess what happens when I don't follow my own system that I came up with? I am not successful either.
So go Get Good and have fun...........and who knows you might even go pro!
